About DisplayPort
DisplayPort (DP for short) is a digital video interface standard developed by the Video Electronics
Standards Association (VESA). It is mainly used for video and audio transmission between computers,
monitors, TVs and other devices. It is designed to replace traditional VGA, DVI and FPD-Link (LVDS)
interfaces to provide higher resolution, higher bandwidth and better audio transmission. It features
simultaneous transmission of video and voice and supports high-bandwidth digital content protection
(HDCP). Backward compatibility with legacy interfaces such as HDMI and DVI via active or passive
adapters
About VESA
VESA (Video Electronics Standards Association) is an American standards organization that
specializes in developing standards for video devices for computers and small workstations. Founded
in 1989, VESA's original purpose was to develop the SVGA video display standard with a resolution of
800x600. As time goes by, VESA has not only exerted influence in the field of PC displays, but also
expanded embedded display, vehicle display and other fields. It is important to promote DisplayPort
technology and define compliance testing (Compliance Test). VESA also holds regular PlugTest
conferences to enable members to conduct device compatibility testing.
